Mar 1.
Weekend after the exam week. Though I've been complaining having no time to discover the city, there is really nothing especially interesting at this time around. So I just get on my bike and head to the city centre. I found dutch translation of Haruki Murakami's book. Also some boys playing hockey on a makeshift ice rink in front of the Rijksmuseum. Oh, I have to get used to the back-paddling brake soon, or I'll hit something sooner or later.

繼上次寫過的三人行交友節目後，我又發現了MTV台的蹄笑皆非無腦節目，都屬於reality show，首先是"A shot at love with Tila Tequila"，Tila是個bisexual social queen，節目找來16個男男女女爭取她的芳心，我只看到最後一集剩兩個人競爭，還有精采回顧，整段就是不停的嗶嗶嗶消音，類似的節目還有找雙胞胎的bi作主角的；第二個是"Paris Hilton's my new BFF"，為芭莉絲希爾頓小姐尋找下一個best friend forever，也是每集淘汰一人，每一集有不同的任務或主題，例如要成為社交名媛的好朋友自然要有party all night的體力，所以大家在整夜趴踢後還被抓去玩騎馬打仗...

Mar 13~16 (Budapest)

March 15 commemorates the 1848 revolution, when Hungarians fought for independence from the Habsburg Empire. When we went to the castle district, we saw the former prime minister giving a speach. Though I don't understand what he's saying, the people around the square listened with great intensity.

註：1848年有很多革命，例如課本上出現過的推翻路易菲力的七月革命

Sinterklaas eve is about exchanging gifts and writing a poem for somebody else. The poem should be as provacative and funny as possible. And that's where the "DP" showed up. So~~what does "DP" mean, as an acronym?

Several months ago, I submitted a paper to a third-tier journal, and the paper was rejected recently. The result is not surprising, because it was really just like a simple exercise in an econometrics course. By the way...though the article has been revised by a native speaker, one of the reviewer still criticized: "The English writing need much improvement"

Reviewer#1:

The paper is largely an exercise in replicating earlier studies using data from Taiwan manufacturing. The authors need to be more careful with a number of conceptual and measurement issues in order to make the results more persuasive.

Reviewer#2:

The framework of this paper is completely following previous studies. The main argument of this study is to investigate and compare the determinants of capital structure for SMEs and LSEs. However, authors proposed the same framework for SMEs and LSEs. The empirical results do not provide new insights of capital structure. Hence, the contribution is marginal.

1.(真神奇)今天在MacDonalds看到兩位盲人帶著黑色可魯進來用餐，店員就到他們的座位幫忙點餐，似乎點了很久，最後店員竟然拿出了一本點字版的menu!
2.(沒參與)今晚是一年一度的museum night (On "Museum Night," dozens of Amsterdam museums offer special, themed events and performances during unorthodox hours -- most run between 7 p.m. and 2 a.m. Programs include everything from DJs, jazz concerts and dance performances to poetry readings, unusual tours and interactive workshops.)

最近看MTV Channel有個很好笑的交友節目，每集都是三人行（一男二女or一女二男...也有三個都男的...）的約會，最後再由主角大抉擇要和誰繼續交往，競爭者可以在適當時機拿出timeout卡，然後就能跟主角獨處一段時間，今天的節目中，A男利用獨處時間和C女在一旁談心，談一談就kiss了,接著三人來到海邊烤肉，B男把C女帶到一旁massage，然後就變成鴛鴦戲水+kiss了，最後B男勝出...好笑在那呢?因為民情風俗不同，跟台灣類似節目相比是非常的不含蓄，某集的女生就善於利用身材優勢，男主角溜冰滑倒她就順勢跌到他身上，烤肉又說自己烤得很熱而換裝bikini（這時還會有子母畫面穿插另一個女生的心中OS:"don't show off your big boobs"），文化差異很大

星期五的晚上，把烤雞蝴蝶麵微波一下吃一吃，順便聽聽室友抱怨有人永遠不打掃，之後在桌子前坐到午夜，終於難得提早完成了本週作業...週六就休息一下，跑去看IMAX版的Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa，雖然沒看過第一集，但真的很好笑，超好笑的!

現正在國家博物館展出的白金鑲鑽人頭(by Damien Hirst)，光是那總共一千多克拉的鑽石就價值15 Million Pounds，展場是全黑的小房間，只用少許聚光燈打光在鑽石人頭上，感覺就像一顆頭浮在空中~~

懶人料理法：烤箱烤肉，１號鍋子煮義大利面，２號鍋子煮青菜，再把所有煮熟的東西丟入便當盒，倒入義大利面醬，攪一攪微波一下，Done!

Oct 17. 本日最好笑
由於本樓層的廁所使用感應式燈具，所以如果拉太久，燈就會熄滅，結果今天有人上廁所時因門鎖壞了出不來，隨著時間的過去，廁所成為一間黑暗密室，還會從屋頂不時噴出芳香劑，就像被關在黑暗毒氣室的感覺，過了二十分鐘有另一個人進廁所啟動了感應器才重現光明，最後是警衛把整個門拆下來，該員才重獲自由

聽我的迦納同學說迦納曾經流行西遊記的電視劇，流行到大家會為了看西遊記而不去教堂，而且他還因此學會說：師父，阿彌陀佛，八戒等中文（因為是中文發音）

小時候雖然沒在看足球，但看看報紙或新聞也會聽過荷蘭三劍客－范巴斯頓，瑞卡德，古力特，來到荷蘭後才知道阿賈克斯（Ajax）的主場就在阿姆斯特丹，今天就去參加球場導覽啦，Amsterdam Bijlmer Arena是歐洲第一個可開閉屋頂的球場，但裝屋頂的缺點是陽光及風不易進入，所以草地的保養較困難...導覽結束後就參觀球隊博物館，Ajax雖然近年戰績普普，但也有過數段黃金年代，包括1971~1973歐冠三連霸，所以博物館裡自然是金光閃閃，其中還有個范巴斯頓（Marco van Basten）專區，此人在1984~1987荷蘭甲級聯賽的112場比賽進了117球，並在1988年帶領荷蘭拿下歐洲國家杯冠軍，在那個年代應該比胖羅小羅C羅還不可一世吧，很可惜31歲就因傷退休了

我的Micro I 差一點...差一點就掛啦，靠四捨五入勉強及格了...Block 2開始，這學期上Micro II (Game theory), Statistics, Macro I (DSGE Model)，Dynamic stochastic general equilibrium model，唉，又是個難搞的東西

If I were smarter

難難難，雖然以前多少都有學過，但程度差太多了

還好我應該不是唯一的受害者，所以同學間常聽到：
I'll be home by Chritsmas...and never coming back.
I give up, I am going back to Brasil.

當然還是有很多聰明人，相較之下，我只要能混口飯吃就夠了

New Life

開學第一週 :
很多雜事要做:銀行開戶,學校註冊,市政廳註冊,檢查肺結核,辦居留證,辦保險
第一年是由5個block組成,每個block上3門課,為期8週,前7週上課,第8週考試,例如從9/1~10/24是block 1,上的課有Math I, Math II, Micro I, 過程很緊湊, 跟許多事情一樣, 經歷的當下很辛苦, 事後再回憶又是不同感覺

早餐:牛奶+玉米片+麥片
午晚餐:吐司夾各類冷肉和起司,各種pasta,生菜+沙拉醬
其他:微波食品,杯湯,泡面,水果,零食
(沒有電鍋,只會煮義大利面,一次煮三餐份)

New home

第一天....

房間有陽台,冰箱,電視,網路,浴廁,還有14人共用的廚房和洗衣機,神奇的是電視竟然有cable,有bbc,cnn,discovery,TV5...

第二天....

去Amsterdam市中心逛了一下,還有時差,凌晨3點就醒了

第三天....

今天的任務是尋找我失蹤的包裹,據說它上星期就到了,但郵差並未留下線索,今天只好先去Amstelveen的郵局詢問,結果不在這兒,櫃員說寄往我家的包裹應該會在XX的一家書店內的小郵局...好,坐TRAM來到了XX,左右都像是森林,那就先往右走好了,還真的找到了家書店,但也不是這兒,經店員指示往回走,終於來到目的地,結果...booboo...什麼都沒有...它該不會消失了或已經被遣返回國了吧??

第四~七天....

去梵谷美術館,參加學校贊助的免費運河遊船行,採購生活用品,煮飯,探索跑步路徑
